I just love this image because of the repitition of shapes between the sandstone at the upper-right and the empty space in deeper shadow in the upper left; and the sand at the lower right, this shape again inferred along the lower left part of the image. This image almost didn't happen, as a couple had just hiked through, and back out of this part of the Wave. They somehow (amazingly enough) managed not to disturb the delicate sand drifts which formed as a result of a strong wind storm the day before. Originally, this image included a bit of horizon over the backround of the left side, but I cropped it off preferring the more abstract interpretation here. However, the inclusion of that horizon adds an amazing amount of depth to the image which is completely lost when it is removed. It is interesting what an incredible difference a very minor crop can have on a particular picture.
Minor enhancement of saturation in Photoshop. WC-58 wide angle adapter used to increase field of view.
