2004-11-15: a lot of bull?

Paris, France

I spent much of November 15 finishing the lengthy process of getting permission to spend the year in France. The process began with applying for a long-term visa in April (which was a little late for a June departure; fortunately we got our visas in time). After our arrival on June 11, we had two months to apply for a carte de séjour (residence permit). We did it within a month and got an appointment for an interview in late October! That interview was completely pro forma, simply proving that we had medical insurance and financial resources and attesting that we would not work for pay in France. Then we had the medical examination and the final issuance of the permit, which was the 15th. Because immigration officials take a dim view of foreigners with cameras in their offices, I left the camera at home. So my photo for the day is a detail of the carte de séjour: this little bull at the bottom. A comment on the process?
