Alphabet Soup

These venerable Nikon F2s are surrounded by my modest collection of old Nikkor (Nippon Kogaku) lenses of 1960s vintage.
I call them alphabet soup because each lens has a letter designation in the name indicating the number of glass elements. e.g. O=8, P=5, etc....
if the letter designation also contains a C, this meant the lens was multicoated. All of these are single coated which I wanted for producing a classic look with B&W.
Each of these lenses can produce stunning images on film or with digital sensors. Designed before the era of the supercomputers
which we now all have on our desks(!), the optical formulations were arrived at using mainly trial and error by geniuses....and they were
hand ground and polished to perfection by artists. As with the early Pentax and the Rolleiflex, when I use these lenses, I feel connected with history.
