About 1 km from Setúbal, the imposing São Filipe Fortress guards the entrance to the port.
The fortress was named after the king who had it built in 1590, King Philip I of Portugal and II of Spain.
With an impressive panoramic view over Setúbal and the bay of the river Sado.
