Above the village of Kirchehrenbach, a table mountain rises, visible from afar - almost as the entrance to Franconian Switzerland: the Walberla. The oldest Franconian mountain festival, the Walberlafest, takes place here on the first weekend in May, documented since the 14th century. The origins of this festival lie in a pilgrimage and a fair that was held on the mountain plateau. Old descriptions show that at the beginning of the 19th century almost all neighboring Catholic communities marched in processions to the Walburgis Chapel.
