Blue Heron

Heeeee's back.
This Heron and a pair of mallards seem to have taken up residence in a small pond in the valley. They are not there in the mornings but return as the sun is setting. The mallards seem to be getting somewhat use to me but this guy is very skittish and flies away when I get within 40 yards or so.

This is a nice composition, Buz. He will get used to you if you slowly move up on him. Sometimes it takes a long time to get near them.

Nice shot, Buz. Good detail in th feathers and a nice reflection. I have had the same experience. About the only time I can get very close is when they are intently stalking a fish. Then they seem oblivious to everything else.
