24th - Starting Gate

near Ford, Glos. view map

Doesn't look very auspicious from the outside, but this is Jackdaw's Castle, the home of Jonjo O'Neill, world famous National Hunt trainer and erstwhile resident of Gloucestershire. What this pic doesn't show is the bristling security cameras which no doubt captured my every move as I skulked furtively around in the bushes opposite, trying to get the best angle...

This looks rather forbidding and not somewhere I'd feel comfortable lurking :-) But a terrific shot! V

Very forbidding atmosphere here... those invisible guards are ominous indeed. Good work capturing this view for the challenge!

Then you explain to the police that you are taking a picture for a Pbase Gates challenge and they send you to the mental home. Oh the risks we take! :) Would love to see the castle!
Jola Dziubinska25-Jan-2011 00:29
It's good the guards did not get you :)

Another nice touch with the toning.

I like the toning - it adds to the forbidding mood of the place.

Yeah, you are on the most wanted list now! LOL! Nice gate. Betting the castle is big!

So was it really cloudy, or is his driveway really long?
Phillip Normanton24-Jan-2011 20:01
Giddy up :o) I like those subtle clouds - must be rich to be able to afford his own weather!
Janice Dunn24-Jan-2011 19:40
So, you've been zapped - they no doubt have your name and address already
It looks a wealthy place Doug...
