My old school - John Watson's School in Belford - now the Scottish Gallery of Modern Art.
It was strange taking Finn round the galleries - they were classrooms to me forty years ago, and seemed much bigger then than they do now. I was able to point out the exact spot where I was mercilessly belted ("six of the best Cruden - Hold. Out. Your. Hand") for getting my Latin conjugations wrong. Ahhh, the Scottish education system - what better way to make weak and timorous wee laddies into men than by thrashing them incessantly with a leather tawse....
Still, the school really works as an art gallery - loads of regular-sized rooms with plenty of space for the exhibits...and superb grounds (just look what they've done to the rugby pitch!!)...it was great fun spending a couple of hours there
