The creative dearth continues I'm afraid, so it's back to the Passat
Desperate for something today, I spied the four bits of rubber at the corners of the car - it struck me as noteworthy and indeed somewhat critical that at any one time, the only contact between the car and the road surface is a tiny bit of rubber. My maths is pants, but I'm sure someone could calculate the surface contact thus for any given diameter/radius/width of tyre. Still makes me appreciate the hard-wearingness and importance of these oft overlooked pieces of our car (and vans, and motorhomes, and lorries.....). And don't worry, the tyre is in good nick - all those dents and such are supposed to be there, honest! It's all to do with channelling water off the tyre's surface...
Sorry: I messed about with the shot in CS3 to smooth out the surfaces, so needn't have used such a long exposure or small aperture....d'oh!
