Dock Architecture

Gloucester Docks, Glos. view map

From various locations around the docks

Like a lot of 'inner city' locations, Gloucester Docks has enjoyed a rejuvenation over the years, and is now a des res with loft dwelling and natty bijou apartments in what were once work-a-day warehouses and such like. Consequently, there is a raft of juxtaposition in architecture and design across the whole area - from glass in-fills between the Kimberley, Phillpotts and Herbert warehouses (left) through stainless steel cladding on a lift shaft (middle) to mezzanine car park air vents (right).

Of course, all of this makes for fascinating photography :o))
