Natural Science - Whorls 1

Cheltenham, Glos

I'm taking a slightly different slant on the Thursday Challenge today; this is a bit of natural science here - a somewhat old ammonite found some years ago high up in the Cotswolds. The hills here are quite famous for the fossils they hold (not as famous as Dorset's Jurassic Coast, though!) and it is possible (as evidenced above) to grab a good example. I was lucky on this occasion as the farmer had just tilled his field and had dislodged this chap; I was able to pilfer him as the tractor chugged off into the distance.

Size? Well, this is a macro shot, so the size is a tad distorted (if that makes sense?)...approx one and a half inches across the bows.

As always (sigh...) I can't decide between this shot or the one below:

A somewhat old ammonite Doug? So what do the really old ones look like? Great idea and I like the way you composed this. Nice job on the focus and depth of field. "V"

Great take on the challenge...I still remember the Fibonacci challenge. I think I like the 2nd shot better.

Just like me, my daughters call me a fossil.
