The tiny member of the Andrenidae family is one of the most diverse genus of bees in North America. According to the information on BugGuide.net, there are 530 spp. in 16 subgenera in our area (north of Mexico). I think that many species are associated with a restricted number of plants. I find them challenging to hunt with a camera, as they often seem to move down into the flower, leaving flower parts above that throw the focus off. Many are quite shiny and difficult to expose properly too. This shot is not as good as I would like but I was thrilled to get it at all.
