There can be no doubt: we live in a world of privileges. One privilege is having household help who takes care of everything for us. We were extremely lucky to have found Alexis. She is a fabulous cook, marvelous housekeeper, patient Spanish teacher, and a wonderful person. It was an honor to be invited to her house on the other end of town, where the pavement ends. Homes there are much more modest, but filled with just as much love and caring as in our neighborhood of privileges.
