IC 5146 - The Cocoon Nebula. Reprocessed 11/25/06. Tried to subdue the color channel noise better. Shot using a Meade LX200 10" at f/7.15 using a SBIG ST-2000XM with SBIG AO7 unit. 35 minutes (6 x 5 minutes) luminance at 1x1 binned. RGB 5:5:5 at 1x1 binned for each channel. Image scale is .85 arcseconds per pixel. Acquired using CCDOps. Aligned and combined in CCDSoft 5. Dark and light frames applied. DDP and LRGB combined applied in AstroArt 2.0. Adjusted in Adobe Photoshop using Astronomy Tools by Noel Carboni. Transparency was good but seeing was poor. Seeing made focusing very difficult. This shot was the first image since I took my wedge off of my pier and re-leveled everything. I did not update the PEC on the LX200 because of the seeing conditions. The image is a bit noisy due to the lack of exposure time. I was more interested in how well my polar alignment was... I am very pleased at this point.
