The Arizona Biltmore was dubbed "jewel of the Desert" when it opened on February 23, 1929 and today is regarded as one of the most spectacular resorts in the world. Albert Chase McArthur was the chief architect with his mentor, Frank Lloyd Wright, acting as consultant. It has 738 guest rooms, numberous villas, and 8 swimming pools. Rooms rent for about $300 a night. The two 18-hole golf courses have a green fee of $175.
Original owner was William Wrigley, Jr. and the Wrigley family owned and operated it for 44 years.
Irving Berlin penned "White Christmas" while relaxing at one of the pools. Jack and Jackie Kennedy, Clark Gable, Marilyn Monroe, and numerous other celebrities and presidents have stayed here.
