This photo was taken from the area of the pueblito that was built at the base of "A" Mountain and thrived there from 1770-1818. There is nothing left of the community today as it was used for a landfill in the 1950s and what little remained was demolished. Excavations to find the foundation on the Convento have failed so far. This area is part of the Rio Nuevo Project.
The "A" on the mountain is traditionally painted by University of Arizona freshmen each year.
