Writing

I don't know how old this writing is, but I don't ever remember trams in Lytham.
UPDATE.
OK, maybe I was just being lazy, I've now found out (via google) that it was in 1936 that the council voted to close the Lytham St. Annes Tramway, which was apparently a big disapointment as Blackpool council were wanting to take over the service, to which it was connected. Great entry for the challenge. I really like it when there is something to be learned from the challenges. I have driven from Preston to Blackpool along the shore more than once, but never saw this tram. Maybe I just forgot.

Found this via a google search, Bernard.......TRAMWAYS, originally the property of the Blackpool St. Annes and Lytham Tramways Company, was first opened for traffic in July, 1896, with rather a novel system of power: Compressed gas. being used. This form of propulsion proved a failure, and on June 4th, 1903, cars were run by electricity. In 1920 the whole of the. tramway property was acquired by the then St, Annes Urban District Council for the sum of £140,000. The present rolling stock consists of 40 open top double deck cars and 10 covered top double deck cars. There; is a working agreement with the Blackpool Corporation for cars to run from Lytham direct to Talbot Square, Blackpool. In -addition to the Municipal trams are six single deck one man operated motor buses of the “ Guy “ type. H. W. Laing, general manager.

I love wandering around places and seeing old paintwork and lettering peeking through...you can find some wonderful (and unexpected) things, just as you have here...great spot Bernard...your challenge now is to find out about the Lytham trams :o)
