June Challenge: Urbans and Landscapes
This wildflower beckoned to me this morning.
The gray stuff you see is gravel along the side of the road.
Investigation reveals it to be a Chicory Flower.
From WildflowerInformation.org - This edible plant
is one of our common roadside weeds, so is very easy
to grow. It blooms with its famous sky blue flowers
after living through one winter. The plants actually
prefer being near hot rocks or other debris in the soils.
This is one reason it thrives best along roadsides.
