Taken at Farmington Bay, Utah, USA February 2005. It is not often that you can get a real good feel for just how large a Bald Eagle is. In the foreground is a Ring-billed Gull, which is not exactly a small bird measuring 17-18 inches long with a wingspan of about 48 inches. However, the eagle is slightly less than double in length (~31 inches) and so is its wingspan (~80 inches). But here you can see that every inch matters dramatically in the bird world as the eagle looks more than double the gull's size.
