11 European hornets 1736

Started the day off removing a European hornet
(Vespa crabro) nest from a sofa-bed stored in
a building. It was a bit dicey, but I got a
lot of nice specimens to use for classes.
Be advised, this is not a DIY project for
most folks!

Here is a website, in Germany no less,
that has a lot of pretty good info on
this hornet. They aren't as agressive
as you might expect, but when you consider
that most are females, and if you are
there destroying their nest and endangering
their offspring, well...
