(The forgotten Chinatown) Oct 9, 2004

Pittsburgh

Before my parents and I went to the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra's concert ,
we walked around downtown of Pittsburgh.

The old Chinatown, which used to be between around Blvd of Allles near Grant St., now
has only two building left. The surge for the highway connecting downtown and Oakland
finally demolished the unique section.

At the end of the Blvd of Allies, we still stood before the only "magnificent" Chinese style
building. No one walked by. The skyscraper behind seems tall yet cold, giving a weird
contrast to the warm Chinse restaurant.

In the age with fastening pace, what should be preserved? Downtown of Pittsburgh has
undergone a lot of changes during the past decades. But is it better?

Nice picture! I like the warm colors in the front. There is a nice contrast to the cold looking skyskraper in the back.

It's nice to see pictures from Pittsburgh. I lived there for 6 years. Wonder if this change is after 96.

Very nicely done. When I was attending night school last year just down the street, I passed by this scene often. Very nice capture!

i like this shot, the lights are nice, and i love how the building in the back seems to impose on the little one in the front..
