This was taken a month ago when I was travelling in Greece. Even then, forest fires had started to erupt across the Pelopponese region, but not to the extent of the blazes a couple of days ago.

While I was lying on the beach, I saw helicopters like this one taking turns to collect water from the sea in an attempt to douse the fires. Evidently, it turns out that these efforts were not enough.

So I keep my fingers crossed, for the people in Greece who are still fighting the flames, and I hope you do too.
