this plant was obtained at the annual Cockerell Butterfly Center flower sale & came with a gold rim swallowtail caterpillar, which has long abandoned the plant, but which I managed to photograph http://www.pbase.com/artichoke/image/68682811/large
this is the first blooming we have had from this exotic plant in the 3 years we have had it
the flower is about 2 cm at the widest
