South of the city of Chios, on the east coast of the island, stretches the plain of Kampos, overgrown with citrus trees. Abundant groundwater from the neighboring highlands make Campos a vast citrus orchard. Kampos is a unique residential complex, an excellent combination of a place of residence and agricultural occupation, of rare elegance. It consists of about two hundred estates surrounded by high ornate mandro walls. Due to its special historical interest, the Ministry of Culture has classified it as a historical traditional settlement.
