The writing att he bottom of the statue says that he is a Kurdish poet from 1650's.
I assume this is the Islamic calender and not the Gregorian????

"the bizaar" is the name of the market where the image is photographed. The Kurdish have a proud tradition of poets and folklore as does much of the middle east. I have since discovered that it was not the Islamic calender. As I have said before I am still learning agreat deal while living in this region. Thanks for your comments.

What's surprising about Kurdistan having had a great poet on 17th Century? Do culture and aestheticism belong to modern and civilized Western alone? Besides, let me precise that 1650 in Islamic calendar is equivalent to the Gregorian year 2076. Having said that, your pictures remain very attractive.
