Love the dramatic lighting. The composition is solid as well. The left shadow doesn't bother me. Without it I am not sure the lighting would work as well. You need the deep shadows. Great texture on the ground and tail area. Also, good use of negative space in the composition.

I am not sure Annie what is running down the left edge of the image... the stall or something, but I would crop it just bit on the left as it is very distracting to me. other wise well done!
