The Stable Yards were built for factory owner Wilhelm von Nottbeck's horses and coachmen. The charming Russian style houses in beautiful garden surroundings have now been restored to their original 1880's appearance. Nowadays Tallipiha is Tampere's most charming shopping experience and full of life again: in the quaint houses you can find artisan boutiques, handmade chocolate and a café. You can buy souvenirs from the workshops and boutiques in the little houses: skillfully made handicrafts, unique Finnish design, decorations and handmade chocolate. Many events and exhibitions organized around the year enhance the appeal of the old city. For the festive season the yards transform into an atmospheric Christmas village, highlighted by a lovely nativity scene.
