Re this seemingly contemporary sculpture, from the 2nd century BC, of an elongated male, Margaret Lew writes:
"'Ombra della Sera' is the name given to this sculpture by the poet Gabriele d'Annunzio who
thought it looked like the long shadow thrown by a man in the dying light of the evening sun.
It was found by a farmer plowing a field in 1879 and used as a fireplace poker until someone
recognized it as an Etruscan art masterpiece."
