The bod has not weathered the ages well.  Old story.

It was built probably long before 2600 BC, so has been there about 5,000+ years.

It's carved out of a natural promontory in the rock, said to have been in the way when
building a causeway from Chefren's tomb.  Some believe this is OF Chefren, built by
him, but a favored theory today is that Chefren restored an older sculpture already there.
