What an interesting and well documented Museum. I have been on a few battleships but none were set up this well for visitors. A fitting tribute to a ship and it's crew that were operational for 47 years including Vietnam and Desert Storm. Terrific work. VVV

Excellent pictures, but she sure looks a lot different from when I was aboard from 1959 to 1963. I reported aboard the day after the big fire of Novemnber 9 at Subic Bay, and was a DC in R Division, CO2 shop.

I served on her from Sept 1979- Aug 1982. I was an enlisted aircrewman with the ships C-1A COD. Great memories aboard her as well as all the flying we accomplished. My favorite pilots were LCDR. Bill Estes and CDR. Ben Hassle. Loved to fill that plane with mail for the "boys" and hit the ship. Others I served with: Tony M.from Ohio,Jim H.from California, Eric S. from Pennsylvania, Rowdy M. from Hawaii,Clark P.from Illinois,and ADC Jim Mc. from Tennessee. Great pics! Mr Koenig, you did a very comprehensive and outstanding job. It's the best overall carrier photographic description I have ever come across. I wish you had been able to photograph the ships sleeping quarters. Most folks who were not in the Navy or on a carrier cannot seem to grasp bunk beds that are 5 and 6 layers high ! Thanks from a former Helicopter Combat Support Squadron 1 parachute rigger attached to the USS Coral Sea CVA 43 (1968-69) Viet Nam.

My plane was the F8 Crusader. I flew it my entire Naval career and flew it from the sister ship of the Midway, the Coral Sea on my first cruise. However four of my last cruises were on the USS Hancock. I was fortunate to fly several of the planes you saw on the Midway. I flew the F9 Photo, A4 and A3. You did an outstanding job of taking shots aboard the Midway. Many viewers will glad to have the opportunity to show their family how they spent some of their time in the Navy. Thanks for a job Well Done. That would be Bravo Zulu in Navy terms. Might ask your viewers to click on the slideshow for better views.

My father served on the Midway just after the Korean war. Royal Order of The Bluenose, etc. He was aviation ordinance. I have heard wonderful stories about her growing up at the dinner table. I feel as if I know her. This is an incredible gallery. Thanks for the visit! -V-

I am very impressed. Your images are composed well and well thought out. You picked a massive subject and provided us with images that lead through compartment after compartment I found myself examining every image.
