Resting

It's very likely these Sea Lions rode out the latest storm at sea and are exhausted from swimming for hours.
This is one of several groups I saw south of La Jolla Cove this morning. They made it on shore despite 8'-10' waves.
They look small in this image, Males are typically around 2.4 m (7.9 ft) long and weigh up to 350 kg (770 lb), while females are typically around 1.8 m (5.9 ft) and weigh up to 100 kg (220 lb).

Zzzzzzzz...Awww, let them sleep! They probably did have quite a hard swim to get to terra firm. I love how they are just a big pile of sleeping faces. So sweet!

I guess that the sea lions have completely taken over the cove. I used to bring my kids there when they were quite young ~V~

I've seen large groups piled up together like this in real life, but I have never seen an entire group look so exhausted. Poor things. That must have been some storm. Your photo really has captured the scene perfectly. What a photo!
