Shadow Puppet

Sometimes I think memories of long ago become like the Javanese Shadow Puppet Plays.

As for this puppet, it was made in the workshop of our family friend Haryono Guritno in the early 90's.
It depicts Princess Banowati who had the misfortune to marry King Suyudana, the head of the Korawas, the evil faction.
She is beautiful, and in character, honest, compassionate, jatmika (full of good manners), but is a bit flirtatious.
The puppet is made of buffalo leather and horn and painted in about a dozen colors and gold leaf.
