THE TRUNCATED TOWER

Sullington - West Sussex

St Mary's Church......a Grade I Listed Building.
The upper sectio of the tower looks to have been shortened. It is thought that the tower came to its present appearance after a partial collapse in the late mediaeval period and further rather haphazard repairs in the 17th century. The recent modern roofing came abouut as a result of the October 1987 storm.
