23.02.2004

Today it’s finally happened, the number one slot in the Popular Galleries belongs to yours truly, YEEEEHA! An explanation as to what’s been occurring during the past week or so was given yesterday when I’d thrown in the towel having enjoyed two days at number two. I thought I was destined never to reach the number one position but here I am. [big grin] I’d like to thank all of you guys and gals for taking the trouble to visit my humble corner of Pbase and casting your votes. Also a BIG thanks to my spin doctor Fag Ash Lil aka Jeanne for whipping you all up into a voting frenzy. I wouldn’t be where I am today without her dreams and fantasy of seeing me at this place and that’s only because I promised her I’d post a shot of me naked in the bath if this were to happen!! What are you like JHR!! I’d like to thank my family for being so tolerant of being photographed at almost every opportunity, I promise not to let your dinners go too cold while I photograph them in the future. Big thanks to Deb too for not taking off your little black number last night for me to wear in my version of Angela’s PJ shot, I don’t think I’d have lived that one down.

I have to say that there are many other photographers posting photos here on Pbase that are well worthy, of holding this position and it’s really just because very few votes are placed. I urge you all to take a moment to click on the vote link if you have left a comment on someone’s picture. That way we will see some very genuinely good photographers and their photographs progress through the chart and enjoy the exposure they deserve…

Lastly I’d like you all to spare a thought for poor Jill who today has lost most if not all of her photographs due to a PC failure of some kind. I’d like to think that if enough of us were to will that hard drive to rectify itself then in some miraculous way it would.

Cheers everyone, have this one on me you are all so wonderful!!

Great photo Ian and congrats on your number one slot - enjoy it but remember .... 'many a little bird sang in the morning but by night the cat had it' {LOL} But images like this could keep you there? It's great - well done!

"Yes it is very good, but you have already voted for this photo." I love that line. Congrats, again, on making it to the top. There are many PADers posting excellent work that deserves a wider audience. I'm voting when so impressed now. Cheers! And a vote for another fine image. :)

Well done old son. I echo your thoughts in that I'm as guilty as the rest in not voting for any photos I like. Perhaps we can all now vote for those we like and see other excellent photographers in the No.1 slot.

I agree with Fag Ash (snicker) that you do deserve to be at the top!
No guilt associated in my head for voting..I would have gladly done it anyway.

And thanks for the well wishes Ian. I am touched by all the kindness I have read today.
At least I am able to still view the many works of such talented photographers.

I like the image, though it's a little early in the day for me - thank you.

I never look at the popular galleries, rarely vote on an image. However you got me thinking, so I went to check on the last few days. I was surprised to see some of my images there too....

Congratulations!

This shot is gorgeous. I love the gradient look to the background. The liquid is absolutely shimmering. Nice.

Glad to see you on top of the world, Mr. Chappell. Even without all the shenanigans around the votes, you are a fantastic photographer and a funny man! You deserve the top spot! Enjoy it! XXX ~Your Lil

and cheers to you Ian. Keep those wonderful photos coming.
So does this mean we still are waiting for the naked photo?

Simply perfect Ian. A deserving photo for the first day on top. To Jill, I hope something can be salvaged--I am backing mine up to zip drives today.

All credit to you Ian - you gallery is really wonderful. I share your thought about Jill and am willing her hard drive back to life with as much energy as I can muster! Good vibes going across the ether to Alabama!

Great capture Ian! Having seen this, I would vote for your gallery again if slug would allow it. In fact, I think we all would once or twice, or four times....
Guest 23-Feb-2004 19:58
As usual Ian, timing is everything. Great capture here. Extra points for use of flash in difficult situation. Gets a vote.
Guest 23-Feb-2004 19:56
Stunning, Ian! My 'heal the computer' vibes are going Jill's way.
