You are right on the fact that several subspecies will have different colors and shades, however, no bird is born gray... they are all dark chicks and molt into any of their definitive colors. Some of those dark juveniles changing into pale gray, are said to look -kind of- blue... especially noted in India... Thanks for the comment... =)
