I've lived in this area for the best part of a decade now and had always intended to go to the localish wildlife park at Helensburgh. (Symbio Wildlife Park, to be precise.) Wanting to support local businesses during the COVID madness (especially as I noted that yet another once favourite cafe, Mr & Mrs Smith at Coledale, has just closed permanently), and wanting some time away from the keyboard and monitor, I decided that today was that day.
The park is quite small, but has a decent selection of animals all of which are housed well and are obviously well cared for. This is a Golden Lion Tamarin, also known as a Golden Marmoset. It's a monkey which is native to the Atlantic coastal forests of Brazil, but is endangered by loss of habitat. This is a double whammy because the Tamarin enhances the habitat by eating a large amount of fruit, the seeds of which are then distributed by... well, you don't have to guess.
It's not usually done by leaving a bit of lunch on its face, though.
