Dammit. I really need to become more temporally aware.
The first photo of what became, the following day, my first PAD was taken on 18 January 2010. Since then I have, on 18 January each year, returned to as close to the same spot as possible to shoot the same scene. (The reason that I can't go back to the exact same spot was discussed last year.) Of course, the shot has been shifted by a day for the last couple of years due to weekends and the fact that I wasn't going to go to the office just to take a PAD.
I knew that the 18th was coming up. I just failed to note that it had already arrived. What's more annoying is that as I noted in yesterday's PAD / PESO / call it what you will, I ended up, quite fortuitously, on a bus headed for this very area and STILL I failed to check the date and realise that the annual PAD was due. Oh well, one day late, and exactly a year after last year's.
I decline to speculate whether this will be the last one; I've been wrong about that each year for half a decade so there's little point.
Actually that's as scary as all getout; Six. Years. How is that even possible?
Unlike the overcast and cooler weather of last year we're back to a hot, steamy Turkish bath of a day today with temperatures in the high 20's, and into the 30's tomorrow. Sleep will not come easily tonight.
The fact that I was a day late meant that once again the back half of the Pacific Pearl graces the White Bay Cruise Terminal on the right. I'm still shooting through bars and even the new wide angled 9-18mm (yes, yet another different lens this year) can't reach that far around. The Body Cap fish eye probably could, but at some loss of detail, I suspect. This is a 4 image panorama.
