I'm not sure that this was the right lens for this kind of shot; I used the 60 mm macro only because I had been using it to capture a range of objects that I found on the beach. However this one of a man shrunk into insignificance by the scale of beach, ocean and mist proved to be the one that I liked the most.
That said, I'm still not really getting the photos that I'd prefer to get which again comes back to the absence of a good general purpose lens following the demise of my 24 to 105 last year.
A note about the file number, not that anybody aside from myself is likely to care but merely for my own reference; the 40 D can only name files from 1 to 9999. After that, it resets to 1. I have been through that cycle at least three times and had created a batch update in Bridge to append the number of cycles in front of the file name so that I retained some idea of how many shops the camera had taken. At some point, however the camera reset its number before a full cycle had completed, so I lost that ability anyway. However, the batch update was still used so that every shot from the 40 D would have a unique number. However given that many of the shots were loaded up long after the event, the batch update wasn't run for some of the uploads including this one. Consequently, I'm not going to worry about it and just use the number that came out of the camera at the time.
