130119_194130_27697 Fishing For Macros (Sat 19 Jan 13)

At Home, Illawarra, NSW

Last year's PAD saw some shots of El Gato staring into the fish tank. This year I thought it might be interesting to take a look inside it ourselves, though I clearly have some techniques to refine for shooting through the glass. I really should have gone down to the car to get the tripod and used the remote release, for instance, and I probably need to open up a little more, and get familiar with the preferred distance to the glass.

Nonetheless this shot of an albino bristlenose (so called for reasons that should be obvious) feasting on some freshly deposited cucumber will do for a start.

An interesting beastie. Aquarium pictures are hard, but this is a good one.

He looks happy enough with his cucumber...I like this shot.

Looks great to me. Super light, color and detail. And the fish is cute in an odd way.

He's a cute little guy who lives up to his name. Shooting the fish-now that's an idea for when I'm stuck for a PAD

I have a rubber hood for my 50 mm 1.8 that I can put right up on the glass to eliminate. All extraneous light is kept out preventing glare. THANKS. now I want to go shoot fish in a barrel.
