The weather across most of Australia has been hellishly hot of late with little sign of abatement. The east coast has been spared the worst of this because of a freak of atmospheric conditions, but it was still hot with a disgustingly high humidity level.
In this shot the sun strikes a hibiscus flower, showing the shadow of the flower's reproductive stem in sharp relief on the lower petal which gives some idea of its intensity. The bug wasn't something that I had elected to shoot; it simply arrived while I was doing so and I left it there.
