20120221_21622 Not Quite Warhol (Tue 21 Feb)

At Home, Sydney, NSW

I've posterised the can (but not the background), but there are still some differences from Warhol's work:

- He used Campbell's cans. I've boycotted Campbell's ever since they bought a local biscuit company named Arnott's. I don't have anything intrinsically against foreign investment; Costco, for example, is sinking $140M into opening new stores in Australia and good luck to them. I'd never shop there; not because it's foreign-owned, just because they demand proof of ID before you can get one of their memberships and any retailer who demands that from me can get comprehensively stuffed as far as I'm concerned. But the operative word in Costco's investment is new. They're not just buying out the cash flows that someone else has built up over the years. And for the record I've also boycotted the investment company that sold it to them, effectively knocking the floor out from under retail holders of the company. This is a long way of saying "That's why it's a Heinz, not a Campbell's can".

- Warhol was attempting to break new ground in art. I'm merely recording the fact that I came down with ear infections which by Tuesday had caused swelling along the side of my face and into my jaw, thus preventing me from eating anything more substantial than soup.
