It's Chinese New Year, this year being the Year Of The Dragon. Specifically, the Water Dragon. (The others are Wood, Fire, Earth and Metal. The last Water Dragon year was 1952/1953, so happy birthday year to anyone in that range.)
I've always hoped to get some shots of some of the more colourful Chinese new year celebrations but unfortunately I've missed out again. However this dragon mounted in the QVB does seem to be staring up at me, amused by my feeble attempt to stop him pouncing on the people below.
I do sincerely hope that some of the more stupid proposals put forth by the privacy commissars, as discussed in this recent article, don't gain traction here. I think that some countries have gone completely overboard with restrictions on photography in public places. Can you imagine having to track down each person who appears, however unrecognisably, in this photo and ask their permission before putting it on PBase? Such restrictions are a classic case of what the road to Hell is paved with.
It's at that point I'd be seeking the services of a real dragon for a little trip to Parliament.
(And yes, I'm one day behind with my postings...)
