My first attempts at playing around with my new light tent, and at shooting some pouring liquids with the macro lens into the bargain.
The latter was an interesting exercise. No, I need to use unrefrigerated liquids because the condensation on the glass is too pronounced. No, I need a little more DOF. No, if I stop down to get more DOF then I slow down the shutter too much and I need at least 1/100th to prevent the motion blur. No, if I crank the ISO then I get too much graininess.
Other lessons learnt: I need to avoid having a light source behind me when using the tent since it defeats the purpose of the exercise, when I'm shooting a sequence lock the naffing exposure, especially if I want to stitch them together (which to be fair, is something that I only thought of doing a few minutes ago), and I still need to find a reliable source of external lighting. I was using light coming in through the window to the side which was too uneven.
But hey, I got a glass of Pepsi out of it so it's not all bad.
