When I looked over my 2010 PAD gallery I was a little surprised to see that I hadn't gone out to Bicentennial Park for a shot for several months. I therefore opted to go there again today on my way to breakfast.
I think I probably should have stopped down a bit more on this one since the DOF isn't quite as deep as I would have liked it. (More obvious in the original shot than in this "reduced for the web" size image.) I would have liked to keep more sharpness all the way across the water as the warm morning light on the parkland beyond is as much a component of my intended shot as the pier itself. Still, it didn't turn out too much differently from the way I saw it (and imagined the image) at the time. It took a bit of cropping but the intended "layers" (the reflection of the pier, the pier itself, the reeds, the foreground trees, the background trees, and then the sky) fell into place.
(Oh, and for Stephanie, the pecckalin swimming across the lake.)
