This ole shed is gettin' shaky,
This ole shed is gettin' old,
This ole shed lets in the rain,
This ole shed lets in the cold...
I've seen this ol' shed by the side of the Federal Highway on all of my trips to Canberra and have thought to photograph it. Why was it originally put there? Why was it abandoned?
On this trip, while I hadn't left as early as I had planned to, I was still making good time to get to Canberra when I wanted to and was more assiduous about looking for places to stop and shoot. I noticed that there was a small side road nearby and hauled my car into it.
Things are not, however, always as they seem to be.
This shed is not in fact abandoned at all. There's a relatively modern farmhouse just nearby and hazarding a guess the shed serves to hold things which need a bit of shelter, but not full protection. So while it's rusty and rickety and certainly looks the part... this is a building which history has yet to leave behind.
