I doubt that a duck's working week is all that arduous (scrounge bread crusts from breakfasting office workers, go for a swim, scrounge bread crusts from lunching office workers, go for a swim, etc) but the smile and body pose on this one suggests a duck who is disproportionately pleased about the arrival of the weekend.
Getting the exposure even close to what I wanted was a pain with a lot of these shots; even though I was trying to meter on the ducks (albeit without resorting to the manual metering modes, which I need to put more effort into learning) I was still often getting blown highlights in the ducks' feathers. This one was OK, the others not so much even when I started using exposure compensation. That's another area to work on.
This shot vied for PAD contention with 4578 (Mob Hit, link here), but I figured that this better summed up the mood of the day despite the forecast top temperature of around 40 degrees Celsius. For those of us more partial to temperate weather, that can put a downer on any day. (Sydney's springs and autumns make up for its summers but oh, the summers!)

Edit, August 2023: Ah Burwood; my former weekend happy hunting ground. I miss it, and I don't miss it.
But speaking of 13 years... this photo has had – if you believe PBase's dodgy and questionable stats - 1,320 views which is MASSIVELY higher than the shots in most of this gallery. Given that the shot has been up for 13 years, that is still a rubbish number of views - PBase's visitor ranking has been flushing itself around the S bend even harder than its number of photos posted per year has - but it's still abnormally high by PBase standards. Yet in 13 years not one single person, not one, has left a comment about how and why they found themselves here, whether they liked the shot or not and why... nooooottthhhiinng. That's not a complaint, so much as an observation of something that seems a tad odd.
Although... I may have answered my own question. They may be referrals from the Mob Hit image in the Fun Stuff gallery mentioned, which has had over 1500 views... and one whole comment. A gallery name "Fun Stuff" is certainly more click-worthy than "Hanging Out In My PAD".
