One of St Kilda's landmarks, the St Kilda Pier extends into Port Phillip Bay and leads to the Pavillion, which can be seen in image 3699.
On any given weekend you'll find families strolling along, going to the Pavilion, feeding the swans and seagulls, fishing, looking at crazy people lugging around Canon 40Ds with multiple lenses in their backpack... (Hey, at least I left the tripod back at the hotel. I doubt I'd have survived the day otherwise.)
You'll see examples of all of these behaviours if you look closely enough. (Very closely, since obviously this image lost a lot of detail when it was reduced to fit the browser.)
