The HMAS Onslow, an Oberon class submarine, was commissioned in 1969. In retirement at the national Maritime Museum, like many (almost) 40 year olds she was in need of a makeover as you can see from the image where she appears alongside HMAS Vampire (071207_123734_2534). A few weeks before this shot she was sent off to the dockyard for a touch-up.
Here she returns to the museum with a nice new coat of black paint, gliding past the retired (also 40 year old) patrol boat HMAS Advance which featured in one of my 2010 PAD shots (100311_125930_5189). Not a sight you see every day...
