From the state archives: by the end of January, 1953, National Airlines had received eight new Douglas DC-6B aircraft. The new planes doubled the DC-6 fleet, making National the country's third largest operator of the Douglas luxury liners. They were purchased as part of a $30,000,000 expansion program begun in 1952.
