The new FAA tower on the right is being constructed because the FAA controllers in the tower on the left won't be able to see different taxiway and runway areas due to the height of the new American Airlines super terminal that will run for approximately one mile from the E-remote pads to the east end of Concourse "A".

Update: the new tower officially opened on December 7, 2002.
